Description
This bright-green Matcha Lemonade is your ultimate summer refresher—energizing yet calming thanks to matcha’s L-theanine, and kissed with the vibrant tang of fresh lemon. With just five pantry staples and ten minutes, you’ll have a naturally sweet, refined-sugar-free drink that even matcha skeptics will love. It’s “green sunshine” in a glass!
Ingredients
-
2 tsp matcha powder
-
2 Tbsp hot water
-
2 cups cold water
-
Juice of 1 large lemon (approx. 3–4 Tbsp)
-
2 tsp honey (or maple syrup)
-
Ice, as needed
-
Lemon wheels or mint sprigs, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
-
Sift & Whisk:
Place a fine-mesh sieve over a small bowl and sift in the matcha powder. Add hot water and whisk briskly for about 20 seconds until smooth and frothy. -
Build the Lemonade:
In a pitcher, combine cold water, lemon juice, and honey. Stir until the honey is fully dissolved. Add the prepared matcha and stir to combine. -
Serve:
Fill two tall glasses halfway with ice. Pour in the matcha lemonade, garnish with a lemon wheel or mint sprig, and enjoy immediately.
Notes
-
For a sparkling twist, replace ½ cup of cold water with chilled sparkling water.
-
Muddle fresh mint or add cucumber/strawberry slices for extra flavor.
-
Best enjoyed fresh, but you can prep the concentrate (matcha, lemon juice, and honey) up to 24 hours ahead and chill it.
-
Stir well before serving if the matcha begins to settle.
