Japanese Sweet Coffee Jelly in glass cups with whipped cream topping

Japanese Sweet Coffee Jelly

A delightful dessert that captures the rich flavor of coffee in a unique jelly form.

  • Total Time: 120 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups brewed coffee
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons agar-agar powder
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream (optional, for topping)
  • 1 tablespoon sweetened condensed milk (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine the brewed coffee, water, and sugar. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Sprinkle the agar-agar powder over the mixture and stir well. Bring to a boil while stirring continuously, then reduce heat and simmer for about 5 minutes.
  3. Pour the mixture into a mold or individual cups and let it cool to room temperature.
  4. Once cooled, refrigerate for at least 2 hours until set.
  5. Serve chilled, optionally topped with heavy cream and drizzled with sweetened condensed milk.

Notes

Brew your coffee the night before for a smoother flavor. If the jelly doesn’t set, add more agar-agar and refrigerate again.
