Ingredients
-
1 Tbsp raw apple cider vinegar (with the “mother”)
-
Juice of ½ lemon (≈ 1 Tbsp)
-
½ tsp fresh grated ginger
-
¼ tsp dried butterfly-pea flowers (optional, for color magic)
-
1 tsp honey or maple syrup (optional, for sweetness)
-
1 cup water (room-temperature for easy sipping, or warm for a cozy alternative)
-
Ice cubes, mint sprig, or lemon wheel for garnish (optional)
Instructions
-
Steep (optional): In a small heat-proof bowl, steep ¼ tsp butterfly-pea flowers in 2–3 Tbsp hot water for 5–7 minutes. Strain; set aside.
-
Mix the base: In a glass or mug, combine apple cider vinegar, fresh lemon juice, grated ginger, and honey/maple syrup (if using).
-
Add water: Pour in 1 cup room-temperature or warm water; whisk or stir until fully blended.
-
Color shift: Gently swirl in the strained butterfly-pea concentrate and watch the drink turn from blue to purple.
-
Serve:
-
Hot: Sip immediately like a soothing tea.
-
Cold: Pour over ice, garnish with mint or a lemon wheel, and enjoy a refreshing mocktail.
-
Notes
-
Scale it: Multiply ingredients by guest count and serve in a pitcher for brunch “mocktail moments.”
-
Dial it down: New to ACV? Start with ½ Tbsp and build up.
-
Less heat: Sensitive to ginger? Use ¼ tsp or finely mince instead of grating.
-
To-go prep: Mix vinegar, lemon, and ginger in a jar up to 24 hours ahead; add water and butterfly tea just before drinking.
-
Protect your enamel: Sip with a straw and rinse your mouth afterward—ACV is acidic.
