Ingredients
-
1 cup fresh blackberries (or thawed frozen berries)
-
1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
-
1 tbsp honey or simple syrup (adjust to taste)
-
1 cup sparkling water or ginger ale
-
4–5 mint leaves or basil leaves
-
Ice cubes
-
Optional: Lemon slices and whole blackberries for garnish
Instructions
-
In a shaker or large glass, muddle the blackberries, mint leaves, and honey until the berries are broken down and fragrant.
-
Add the lemon juice and stir well to combine.
-
Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve if you prefer a smoother texture without seeds.
-
Fill two serving glasses with ice and divide the berry mixture between them.
-
Top each glass with sparkling water or ginger ale and gently stir.
-
Garnish with lemon slices and whole blackberries. Serve immediately.
Notes
-
For a sweeter version, use ginger ale instead of sparkling water.
-
Make the berry-lemon base ahead of time and refrigerate, then add fizz just before serving.
-
Use frozen blackberries if fresh ones aren’t in season—just thaw before muddling.
-
Freeze leftover berry mix into ice cubes for future drinks or smoothies.
